Swedish Massage. The ‘classic’ style of massage uses the five main massage techniques stroking, gliding, kneading, vibration and percussion. It improves circulation, soothes muscle tension, helps flush out toxins and aids relaxation. Both the superficial and deeper layers of muscle are worked upon.
Aromatherapy. A gentle style of massage that uses essential oils derived from plants. The oils, both absorbed through the skin and inhaled as a beautiful scent, assist the body’s natural ability to balance, regulate and heal itself. Once absorbed the therapeutic constituents of the oils travel through the blood stream and deliver their healing powers to the target areas. It is a very gentle, relaxing treatment.
Deep Tissue Massage. This massage works on the deep layers of muscle tissue to ease chronic muscle tension. The strokes are slow and penetrate into the lower muscle layers using the fingers, knuckles and elbows. Direct pressure and friction over specific knots and areas of prolonged tension help break up and eliminate scar tissue. Deep tissue massage can be painful but brings about a feeling of release.
Remedial Sports Massage. Sports massage combines the techniques used in Swedish massage with specialised neuromuscular techniques and stretching. The result is improved suppleness and flexibility and a faster healing time for damaged or stressed muscle tissue. This helps to condition the muscles and obtain maximum physical performance. Again, the massage can be painful, but has extremely good effects.
Reflexology. Reflexology is a specialised massage of the feet. It uses squeezing and pushing techniques over zones of the feet linked to systems of the body to help cleanse and eliminate toxins. Certain areas of the feet correspond to the bodily systems, making it possible to work on specific problems. The effect can be very soothing and relaxing.
Hot Stones Massage. Large hot basalt stones are placed over the energy centres of the body whilst smaller hot stones are used to massage the muscles. The heat penetrates deep into the muscle tissue, relieving underlying tension and accelerating the healing process of tissue damage. During this luxurious treatment the body experiences a feeling of all enveloping warmth and deep relaxation.
Non-Surgical Face Lift Massage. During our daily lives the facial muscles contract with expression and emotion causing them to lock into positions, forming permanent lines and wrinkles. This massage frees the constrictions in facial muscles and their connective tissue using gentle upward movements and lifting techniques. The result is a younger fresher looking skin and a relaxing treatment.
Lymphatic Drainage Massage. Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a very gentle style of massage that encourages the elimination of excess fluid from the body. Light, repetitive strokes towards the lymph nodes helping to flush out toxins, improve the complexion, clear blocked sinuses, decrease water retention, improve the appearance of cellulite and decrease swelling from injury. A full body massage takes two hours, so normally just the affected area is worked on.
Indian Head Massage. Originating from the Ayurvedic system of healing this vigorous head massage also includes work on the neck, arms, shoulders and face. Great for stress release, it re-energises, revitalises and calms. It is good for those who work with computers, suffer from migraines, stress-related conditions, eye problems, insomnia, stiff or painful neck and muscle tension.
On Site Chair Massage. Performed over the clothes on a specially designed ergonomic chair that positions the body so the muscles used for desk based activity are relaxed and accessible to work on. The massage covers the back, shoulders, arms, hands, neck and head. It benefits those with stress-related conditions, muscle tension, especially of the shoulders, neck and forearms and RSI.
